这是RichardLester最好的一个片。　　Anabsurdistclassic　　ThisisawonderfulsurrealcomedybasedontheplaybySpikeMilliganandJohnAntrobus.Youknowthatitisgoingtobeanoddfilmrightatthebeginning,whentheopeningcreditslistthecastinorderoftheirheight.ThefilmbeginswiththeBBC(FrankThornton)tellingusthroughthefacadeofanoldtelevisionthatthisisthethird,orisitthefourth,anniversaryoftheshortestwarinhistory,lasting2hoursand28minutes.Englandisnowabarrenlandscape,litteredwithderelictcarsandbuildings,hillsofoldboots,brokencrockery,andotherdebris.Fortymillionpeopleperishedandthereareonly20knownsurvivors.TheQueendidnotsurvive,andofthe20knownsurvivorsthenextinlineforthethroneisaMrsEthelSchroakeof393aHighStreet,Leytonstone.AmongtheothersurvivorsareRalphRichardson(OLuckyMan!)asLordFortnumofAlamein,whoisn'tlookingforwardtohisimpendingmutationintoabedsittingroom.MichaelHordernisBulesMartin,whowearsa18-caratHovisbreadring.SpikeMilliganisapostmanwhowandersaroundanddeliverssomememorabledialogue,forexampleAndincomethethreebears-thedaddybearsaid,'Who'sbeensleepinginmyporridge'-andthemummybearsaid,'that'snoporridge,thatwasmywife'.ArthurLoweisslowlyturningintoaparrot(whichistheneatenbySpikeMilligan),whilehiswife,theownerofherowndeathcertificate,turnsintoawardrobe.Hisdaughterispregnantwithastrangecreature,whichshehasheldinsideherforseventeenmonths.PeterCookandDudleyMooreareapairofpolicemenwhoperpetuallytelltheotherstokeepmoving!.Mooregrowlsalotandturnsintoadogattheend.MartyFeldmanisawellington-boot-wearingnurse.It'sahilarious,absurdisttreat,andoneofmytreasuredfilmicpleasures.
